Emily in Paris season 4 is coming, and I hope that Mindy’s Eurovision storyline will play a big part in the show’s fourth season. There is not much info on Emily in Paris season 4 yet, and its most recent trailer doesn’t feature Mindy a lot. Mindy is mainly seen talking to Emily about her romantic options, which she has done many times before. Instead of there being any references to Mindy’s arc this season, there are two very short shots in the trailer of Mindy singing in costume.
I appreciate that the trailer might not want to give too much away, but I am concerned that there is such a big focus on Emily and her romantic partners in the trailer so far. While all seasons focus on Emily and her love life most, there has always been room for additional storylines for side characters like Mindy, who I think is one of the best characters in Emily in Paris. This is why I hope Mindy’s promising Eurovision story is going to be significant in the show’s new season.

It does make sense for Mindy’s story to intertwine with Emily’s most, as Emily is the titular character of the show. Mindy and Emily have been best friends on the show from the start. While Mindy gets some of her own stories, she also spends a lot of time being a support system to Emily. Emily in Paris already relies on recycled storylines, such as the same love triangles, work problems, and friendship issues. For that reason, I think it would be refreshing for the show to focus more on its supporting characters than previous seasons did.
Mindy’s personal stories happen far away from the world Emily exists in.
Mindy does have things going for her though, such as her singing career, and she does have her own love interests as well, although never as exciting or as nuanced as Emily’s. What I always find a delight is that a lot of Mindy’s personal stories happen far away from the world Emily exists in. She dates people Emily doesn’t know, and takes on jobs that have nothing to do with Emily. I think that actually improves the show overall, because it allows Mindy to come across as someone with her own life and not just a figure in Emily’s social circle.

Mindy had an exciting announcement at the end of Emily in Paris season 3, which is that she will sing at the Eurovision Song Contest. I thought this was a really great direction to take Mindy in after her previous hardships of breaking into the singing industry. Eurovision is extremely important for singers in Europe, so Mindy’s future successes and plot points could hinge on this.
