UB40’s Ali Campbell Refuses to Speak to Brother Despite Health Concerns Due to ‘Betraya.l’

Good Morning Britain hosts Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins spoke to Ali Campbell and Astro on Monday morning’s show.

The duo are touring together as UB40, the band that used to feature Ali’s brothers Duncan and Brian, who quit the band in 2008 after almost 30 years.

Adil said: “I have to ask you Ali, I’m friends with Duncan in Birmingham where I live, I spoke to Brian last night.

“He said, ‘Look, Ali was my best mate, we went to Mosely Road art school together, he was best man at our wedding, I haven’t seen him in ten years, he moved out of Birmingham, it beats me why we aren’t together’.

It seems like there is a problem between you and your brothers, Duncan’s not well at the moment, could you not see an opportunity? Brian probably would get back together with the band.

“Could you not sort out your differences?”

Stony-faced Ali replied: “Not really no, I was betrayed by them… I am just happy to promote reggae with our version of UB40.”

Charlotte stepped in: “As Adil mentioned, your brother’s not well, we know he’s had a stroke, have you spoken to him, do you know how he is doing?

“No you think there’s a chance to patch things up a bit?”

“Not really no, I have no contact with them so I don’t get to hear what’s happened like everyone else,” said Ali.

“I know he’s recovering.”

Adil asked Astro if he felt any sadness that the band are not all together, and if he missed some of them, and he replied: “No, not really, to be honest with you.
