“Quite amusing…”: Elden Ring DLC’s Unveiling Might Have Turned One of the Darkest Aspects of the Base Game into a Joke

Out of all the games FromSoftware has released to date, Elden Ring remains one of the darkest made by the studio, carrying an extensive lore spanning thousands of years before our tarnished character even makes it to The Lands Between.

However, the game does not come without its own twist of humor through the charm of NPC’s, and the theories players make up themselves. One such theory recently made by a fan is making some players smile over one of the darkest parts of the game.

How the Most Cinematic Boss of the Elden Ring DLC Brings Unexpected Twists

Lord Placidusax was the ruler of dragons, and the original Elden Lord before Queen Marika came into the picture. Unfortunately, players find what once was a mighty foe in a pitiful state, still managing to thrash the player into pieces during the battle.

Commenting on a now-deleted post in the official Elden Ring Reddit forum, a user put forward how the most unexpected, but ‘funny’ plot twist from the recent Shadow of the Erdtree DLC was how the Dragon Communion was a ruse established by Placidusax to turn humans against the ‘Drakes’, referring to Bayle and his descendants.

The user explained further in a reply to his own comment how the dreaded dragon was the one responsible for injuring and ripping off the heads of the Ruler of the Dragons, sustaining injuries himself, and fleeing to the Realm of Shadow afterward.

This prompted Placidusax and other dragons of the time to take a human form and travel the lands, convincing anyone they came across to hunt down the drakes and consume their hearts, thus establishing the dragon’s communion.

The recent DLC was the studio’s largest expansion ever, and despite facing a rocky start at first, the Realm of Shadow delivers in ways one could never have imagined.

While it conveniently leaves out what players have been wanting to know all this time, including the background of Godwyn the Golden, the Shadow of the Erdtree goes in a different direction and shows the player a bigger picture.

One of the biggest reveals in the DLC was how the guidance given by the Greater Will is possibly outdated, owing to Metyr, the mother of fingers being driven to craziness.

This means not only our tarnished character is being potentially being guided wrong all this time, but Queen Marika was under the wrong influence too.
