Terrifying Elden Ring Glitch Lets Messmer Chase Player Outside The Boss Room

HIGHLIGHTS

An Elden Ring glitch allows Messmer to chase a player outside his boss room in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
Messmer continues attacking the player even after the game thought the boss had died and gave the player his Remembrance.
Eventually, both the player and the boss that refused to die fell off the map, bringing the unexpected chase to an end.

While players heave a sigh of relief after defeating the unforgiving bosses in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, one fan’s experience turned out to be a nightmare as Messmer started chasing them outside the boss room. Elden Ring fans have been struggling to defeat

Messmer the Impaler ever since the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC came out, and just when this player thought they were done with the boss, the game seemed to have other plans.

While Elden Ring is one of the most acclaimed games of all time, it does have its fair share of bugs. Recently, a player encountered a strange glitch that allowed them to replay the Dragonlord Placidusax boss fight in Elden Ring. While that was a pretty good glitch to have as fans have been asking for a similar feature for years, another player’s experience turned out to be quite a scary one.

In a post on the Elden Ring subreddit, aptly named user Howareualive reveals a horrifying experience they had while taking on one of the most difficult bosses in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Apparently, the boss fight in its entirety was broken for the user, as they got the Remembrance after depleting only half his health. While that normally wouldn’t be that bad of a thing for those stuck on the Messmer fight, things turned out to be a nightmare for this player. Despite the game thinking that the boss had died, Messmer continued to attack the player in the boss room even though the area had become safe for them.

Things went a step further when Messmer started chasing Howareyoualive outside the boss’ room as well. The player ended up fighting with Messmer in Elden Ring for a while, but while trying to evade one of his attacks, the player fell off the ramparts. Funnily enough, Messmer didn’t even leave the player alone in that situation, as he followed them, and eventually, both the player and the boss ended up dying.

While this might sound like a humorous experience, other Elden Ring fans have been horrified of experiencing something similar. One user highlights how scary it’d be if the game had a feature like that, with some stating that it’d be interesting if FromSoftware added something like this in its next game. While overworld bosses in Elden Ring do follow the user for a short distance, if players run far enough from their spawn point, they end up resetting. As far as the main bosses in Elden Ring are concerned, they always remain confined to their rooms, so this glitch was extremely special.
