If you look at Cadillac’s roster, just about everything is all-new or refreshed, with a few exceptions, like the CT4 sedan. One other glaring omission is the XT5 compact luxury crossover SUV, which has been around since model year 2017.

The 2025 CT5 mid-size sedan is upgraded to new heights along with the CT5-V and the Blackwing, the $38k Caddy XT4 has great new looks and many other updates, and the big 2025 Escalade just got almost everything new without actually embarking on a new-generation journey. Then there are also the EVs, including the all-new Optiq, 2026 Vistiq three-row crossover SUV, or the flagship 2025 Escalade IQ.

In fact, it’s pretty darn hard to find anything that doesn’t look fresh in Caddy’s roster – even the CT4 and XT6 don’t look dated. However, the same conclusion is not valid for the XT5, which has been in production since January 2016 and only got a mild revision for the 2020 model year.

The eight-year-old crossover SUV looks from a different era, and it was about time Caddy did something about that. Well, the wait for an all-new generation is now over, at least in China – and now the XT5 finally adheres to its looks in line with the latest Caddy models. However, the all-new iteration was recently presented to the Chinese local market and leaked by news outlets for the rumor mill’s worldwide use.

Meanwhile, in America, the XT5 faces stiff competition from the Lyriq all-electric CUV, and the EV might completely replace it in the near future. If not, no worries; the parallel universes of vehicular CGI have already instructed the imaginative realm of digital car content creators to create the US-specific model. More precisely, the Halo oto channel on YouTube provides fresh automotive info corroborated with their virtual designs; now, there are some new CGI ideas about the fresh XT5, along with shots of the China-specification 2025 XT5.

As far as we can tell from the ongoing leaks – after the shots with the exterior, we also have some conclusive images of the well-done interior from vburlapp (aka burlappcar.com); the Cadillac team worked subtly on the exterior to align with the latest models in the family while they revolutionized the cockpit treatment. There’s a massive digital screen behind the steering wheel and on top of the center stack, and Caddy has done a fine job avoiding potential accusations of copying BMW or Mercedes.

So, the question is simple – irrespective of the renderings, most likely because they’re almost irrelevant at this point in time. Do you think that Cadillac will sell the all-new 2025 XT5 only in China, or will General Motors make an effort to bring it to America, too?
