A Facebook post recently claimed that the brand-new season of the Netflix show You was all set to star actress Elizabeth Olsen. The post was shared by a Facebook account named ‘Netflix Community.’ It featured a poster of Elizabeth Olsen pouring blood from a kettle into a cup while sporting a yellow dress and looking straight at the viewers. The poster also featured a tagline that read:
“A Bloody Good Time”
According to the post shared on Wednesday, July 10, the first part of the show’s fifth season was set to be released on February 10, and the second part to follow on March 10. As for the year of release, the caption accompanying the Facebook post read:
“YOU. FINAL SEASON. 2024!!!”

The post amassed over 28,000 likes and featured over 2,700 comments, with over 1,800 people deciding to share the news with their loved ones. The author of the post even linked an article in the comments section. The link was for a Netflix Life article titled “Everything we know so far about You season 5”.
Despite the massive traction the post received, it is worth noting that neither Netflix nor the showrunners have confirmed that Wandavision star Elizabeth Olsen would be in the show. The actress herself has never previously been in the show and has not released any statement regarding being featured in it in the future. Hence, the news about Olsen being in You season 5 is untrue and fake.
Elizabeth Olsen is not starring in You season 5
The original photograph does not see the actress pouring blood. Instead, it sees Olsen in the same yellow dress pouring tea from a kettle into the cup. The publication also shot a video of the actress doing the same.
The Netflix Community page boasts 265,000 followers on Facebook, and the About section states it is a fan page. The page also shared a post for an upcoming second part of The Devil Wears Prada. This is true as Disney has confirmed that a sequel was in the works for the iconic fashion film from 2006 that gave Meryl Streep an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
At the same time, to add to the confusion, the page uploaded a post about season 2 of The Queen’s Gambit, which no official source has confirmed. Hence, the Facebook page cannot be seen as a reliable source for updates regarding films and shows.
Moreover, the article linked to the post regarding Elizabeth Olsen’s potential appearance on You season 5 never mentioned the Marvel actress’s name. The dates in the poster were also wrong, as both the release dates have been eclipsed by now.
Netflix confirmed that season 5 of You will be the last of the Penn Badgley starrer. The streaming service revealed in May that production for the show was already underway in New York. Although Netflix ensured the show would come out in 2024, no exact release date was revealed.
