DJ SBU DEFENDS MISS SA FINALIST CHIDIMMA ADETSHINA

Chidimma Adetshina’s parents’ ethnicity has since thrust her into the top trends, with many flooding social media feeds with their two cents. Many politicians, including Gayton McKenzie, Julius Malema and Herman Mashaba, have since shared their thoughts.

Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie has since been accused of xenophobic comments after his remarks about Chidimma Adetshina.

After being asked how he feels about Miss finalist Chidimma Adetshina on X, Gayton McKenzie said, “We truly cannot have Nigerians compete in our Miss SA competition.”

He said he had yet to get more information since he was ill-informed of the matter beforehand. At that time, @GaytonMcK said, “I just returned from Paris and will definitely get more information tomorrow.”

However, against the backdrop of his remarks, DJ Sbu and a host of celebrities have shown support for Chidimma Adetshina. He seemingly took a swipe at those questioning her nationality because of her parents.

In a now-viral video with hundreds of comments and reactions, the DJ revealed that the 23-year-old model and LLB student is South African.

DJ Sbu said, “What would help a man hate on a young little girl who’s pursuing a future, was born in SA, and entered #MissSA2024 legitimately with her green barcoded ID book?”

The DJ said South Africans should focus on other issues rather than hating Chidimma Adeshina, who entered the competition legitimately. The DJ also said South Africans should rally behind the young girl and desist from selected outrage.

SOUTH AFRICAN CELEBRITIES SHOW SUPPORT

No doubt, DJ Sbu joins a host of celebrities and politicians who have supported the 23-year-old amid xenophobic comments.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, celebrated rapper Rouge posted, “Wishing this beauty all the best. I can’t imagine the pain of seeing all these painful messages daily. Keep your head up, mama.” Surprisingly, the award-winning rapper was born in South Africa to Congolese parents.

On the other hand, DJ and music producer Prince Kaybee posted, “I want Chidimma to win so bad.”
