Cadillac has long held a reputation for solid, comfortable luxury vehicles that was well founded. Indeed, the brand is an icon of American luxury. But pillowy, floaty luxobarges aren’t what makes the standard of the world any more. The V-series has become widely known as a genuine performance line, with the lovely CT-5 V making quite an impression, and the even more powerful Blackwing creating quite the stir with massive supercharged power. Today, the cover comes off a hardcore variant, the 2025 Cadillac CT-5 V Blackwing Precision Package, adding some small but significant tweaks that should make this an impressive track machine that can still get you to and from the track in plenty of comfort.
Take One Blackwing, Add A Dash Of Carbon, And Shake
Anyone who frequents sanctioned track events will tell you that one of the most important things on any car is the brakes. You’ll be turning hot laps over and over, and there will always be another car that seems to get in your way somehow. They might be faster on the straights but not handle the corners well, and they’ll slam their brakes well before you’re ready. You want to make sure that your car is able to take you to work the next day rather than smashed into a tire wall, so trusty brakes are a must.
That’s why GM engineers have made carbon-ceramic brakes standard on the 2025 Cadillac CT-5 V Blackwing Precision Package. Carbon-ceramic brakes are lighter than standard iron brake rotors, and can handle repeated high-speed stops better. This is a $9,000 option on the standard 2025 Cadillac CT-5 V Blackwing, so making it standard for a track-focused sports sedan is a no-brainer.
Further, the suspension has been retuned for better high-speed handling. Higher spring rates, revised bushings, and a larger front sway bar all factor in making a car handle high speed turns with confidence. The front steering knuckles and rear toe links have been revised to allow for a more aggressive wheel alignment, helping to keep an ideal contact patch in the corners. And the electronic limited slip, chassis controls, and MagneRide dampers have all been retuned for improved performance.
Thankfully, the Blackwing engine hasn’t changed. The 6.2-liter supercharged V8 still puts out an incredible 668 horsepower and 659 lb/ft of torque. And, yes, the six-speed manual is still available. If you so choose, however, the ten-speed automatic is available.
No word on pricing yet, as the 2025 Cadillac CT-5 V Blackwing Precision Package will start production in early 2025 at GM’s Lansing, Michigan factory. We’d imagine that since the current CT-5 V Blackwing starts right around $93,495 plus destination charges that the Precision Package will be in the low six figures. Still sounds like a heck of a way to get one of the hottest American sports sedans ever.
