Influencer and house DJ Oscar Mbo is making headlines after launching his fashion brand, ‘Have A Groovy Day.’ He is the latest South African DJ to venture into fashion.

OSCAR MBO VENTURES INTO FASHION
However, Mzansi was more than convinced that this was on the cards for the DJ. The launch came when he had been winning big career-wise. Lately, he has been busy and booked. He has headlined several shows across the globe and has shared the stage with some of the biggest acts in the music industry.
The Kriel-born DJ has been seamlessly balancing his fashion and music career, using his music and influence to market his clothing line.
Speaking to the media, he believes his passion for fashion inspired him to launch his clothing line. According to TimesLive, Oscar Mbo revealed that he did not want to venture into fashion blindly, so he had to trust the process.
“I have always had a passion for clothes, but I wanted to equip myself before I entered the fashion industry. Hence, my entry is with my own line of merch as I grow more into design. I’m giving myself time to grow over the years and am hoping to have a full line in the near future,” Oscar Mbo said.
Oscar Mbo describes his clothing line as streetwear inspired by the Asian fashion aesthetic introduced in 2021. However, the DJ also revealed the prices of some of his merchandise.
“The prices are reasonable, with high-grade materials. Our hoodies retail at R2,999, T-shirts at R1,499, socks for R249, scarf for R899 and caps at R799. Most fashion lovers can easily relate to the brand,” he said.
MAKING HEADLINES
Despite being dubbed as one of the best-dressed stars from South Africa, Oscar Mbo has had his fair share of drama. Over the years, he has been accused of wearing counterfeit clothes. These damming allegations have often seen him making headlines.
However, the bubbly DJ set the record straight during his Podcast and Chill with MacG interview. During the interview, Oscar Mbo admitted having worn counterfeit clothes. However, he made it known that he did it unwillingly and unknowingly.
He has it that he was a victim of a scam that had nothing to do with his ability to afford authentic clothes. Oscar Mbo said he had a trusted supplier who sold him fake clothes. The celebrated DJ once said that the whole experience was a real eye-opener for him and a hard lesson learned.
