Chandler Riggs: I would be “super down” with returning as Carl Grimes

Former Walking Dead star Chandler Riggs has said that he would be “super down” with returning as Carl Grimes.

The show has occasionally brought back dead characters in flashbacks, dream sequences, or hallucinations (some of the most obvious examples being Rick’s final episode, Tyreese’s death, and Sasha’s exit).

And with the late Carl referenced on a few occasions this past season in dialogue, he’s still fondly remembered by a lot of the survivors.

“It’d be a lot of fun,” Riggs said at Walker Stalker Con in London (via ComicBook.com) about the possibility of briefly reprising the role. “I’m super down, yeah. That would be awesome.”

One former star who isn’t interested in a return is Steven Yeun, who at the same convention said that he considers that chapter over.

“I think, sincerely, to be able to end something is like the greatest feeling in the world,” the Glenn actor said.

Earlier this month, Riggs light-heartedly roasted former showrunner Scott Gimple over Carl’s controversial death.

Rick’s son died midway through the eighth season after being bitten by a walker during the All-Out War. The events were a surprise because Carl is still alive in the comics to this day and seen as a core part of the source material.

In February, Riggs’ father posted a lengthy Facebook post stating that he believes the star deserved “better treatment” from Gimple.

Carl’s storylines from the comics were split between Henry (Matt Lintz) and Carl’s younger sister Judith (Cailey Fleming) for season 9. Henry didn’t make it to the end of season 9 alive, as he became one of the Whisperers’ pike victims.
