I thought of her this morning when I wished her happy birthday. She was my best friend.”

He admitted to making mistakes but ardently denies responsibility for her death. “We had our problems and if it hadn’t been for certain factors, things would have been very different. We were young. (…) A lot of people make mistakes when they are young,” Blake explained.

Blake’s life has been marked by multiple stints in prison. In July 2008, he was sentenced to 27 months for attacking a pub landlord. He served time again in June 2011, receiving a 32-month sentence for burglary, right after becoming a father for the first time. While in rehab, he met Sarah Aspin, who gave birth to their son, Jack, in May 2011.

A Life Full of Challenges

In August 2012, freshly released from prison, Blake Fielder-Civil nearly lost his life to an overdose of alcohol and drugs. He was hospitalized in serious condition but survived after being placed in a coma. Sarah was pregnant with their second child at the time; their daughter, Lola Jade, was born in March 2013. However, Blake and Sarah later separated.

What Does Blake Look Like Today?

In 2014, Blake sparked controversy by posing at Amy Winehouse‘s grave. He has since kept a low profile, surfacing only occasionally for significant events such as the release of Amy’s biopic. The Sun reported in July 2021 that he was engaged to Bay Wright, but the current state of that relationship remains unknown. Blake maintains a modest presence on social media, possibly to avoid negative attention from Amy’s ardent fans.
