Elizabeth Olsen has thrown her support behind Scarlett Johansson over ongoing her Disney lawsuit.
The 32-year-old actress, who also appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Scarlet Witch, has opened up as the Black Widow star is suing the studio.
Scarlett, 36 has alleged that the company breached its contract with her by releasing the blockbuster on its streaming platform rather than pushing ahead with an exclusive theatrical release.
Disney – who insisted ‘there is no merit whatsoever to this filing’ – has recently filed a motion to force the actress into a private arbitration.
Now, Elizabeth has responded after being asked about the situation and current movie release model amid the pandemic.
She told Vanity Fair: ‘I’m worried about a bunch of things. Not worried on Scarlett’s behalf. But I’m worried about small movies getting the opportunity to be seen in theatres.

‘That was already a thing pre-COVID… But when it comes to actors and their earnings, I mean, that’s just, that’s just all contracts. So it’s either in the contract or it’s not.’
Ted Lasso’s Jason Sudeikis – who was also doing the interview – called Scarlett ‘bad ass’ over the lawsuit, with Elizabeth adding: ‘I think she’s so tough and literally when I read that I was like, ‘good for you Scarlett.’
Documents filed by Disney over the weekend saw its lawyer Daniel Petrocelli argue that the company lived up to its obligation to give Black Widow a ‘wide theatrical release’ and that a streaming release was not ruled out in her contract.
In response, Johansson’s lawyer John Berlinski said: ‘After initially responding to this litigation with a misogynistic attack against Scarlett Johansson, Disney is now, predictably, trying to hide its misconduct in a confidential arbitration.’
Johansson, who plays the superhero also known as Natasha Romanoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, filed a suit alleging Disney was in breach of her contract by allowing for a simultaneous theatrical and streaming release of Black Widow.
