Uncle Vinny, whose real name is Kabelo Vincent Ndlovu, posted a picture of his bloody nose on social media on Saturday, 31 July, claiming a cop had beaten him up.
The 19-year-old wrote: “A police officer hit me after I asked him nicely to not hold me roughly. He decided to hit me. My heart is sore; I can’t believe they followed us just for pumping a tyre and going home.”
Vinny continued to say the cop accused him of punching him.
“And, he accused me of punching him after I stated my rights. Imagine being beaten up for standing up for yourself. I am very sad, I can’t believe it,” he wrote.
His followers were upset, saying they wanted justice for him.
However, things changed when a video, purported to be of the interaction, surfaced on social media on Sunday, where a person alleged to be Vinny is seen pushing a cop before he slaps him.
Social media users then supported the cop, saying he did the right thing as the person disrespected an officer.
Asked for comment, Vinny’s publicist Monare Matema told Daily Sun the person in the video on Twitter was not Vinny.
When called or comment Vinny hung up and his manager’s number went straight to voicemail.
Captain Kay Makhubele said he knew nothing about a police officer slapping Vinny.
