Elizabeth Olsen Fans Outraged: No Scarlet Witch Movie Announcement at SDCC!

Scarlet Witch is returning to the MCU… is what many fans of the Marvel character and actress Elizabeth Olsen had hoped to hear during Saturday’s SDCC Marvel Studios panel. Instead, they were given Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. It seems in both cases, many fans have issues to air, and they do so very well on X/Twitter.

After several years of speculation over the fate of Wanda Maximoff, the comic book witch’s army of fans had hoped that Marvel Studios’ SDCC panel would reveal that a long-rumored, often wished for, Scarlet Witch movie was finally in development. While there is nothing to say this is not the case, such a project is clearly not imminent, and there have been no new announcements made about Scarlet Witch’s return or death.

Wanda fans have been attempting to manifest the witch back into existence since the crushing final act of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While her demise has been listed in the official Marvel timeline book, and Olsen herself has hinted that she is perhaps done with the character, we all know that in the current Marvel saga, no one is really dead.

Will Elizabeth Olsen Play Scarlet Witch in Secret Wars?

Originally, fans believed that Wanda’s return would happen in the upcoming WandaVision sequel/spin-off Agatha All Along. The series picks up the story of Agatha Harkness, the witch that attempted to steal Wanda’s power for herself during the events of WandaVision, and ultimately paid the price when she was stripped of her powers and condemned to live trapped in a normal life by Wanda. However, despite several teasers pointing to Wanda being included in the series – as the name on a corpse’s body – her inclusion in the stacked cast has not materialized.

So the question is where could Wanda reappear in the MCU? The most obvious place would be in Avengers: Secret Wars, the culmination of the Multiverse Saga, which is expected to include the appearance of pretty much every Marvel hero – and villain – from across the multiverse. Additionally, the connections between Doctor Doom and Wanda in several comic book arcs would also play into her possible

Inclusion in the film. The scale of the movie has now increased in the minds of many fans following the official announcement that the Russo brothers will be helming not just Secret Wars, but Avengers: Doomsday – the official replacement of The Kang Dynasty.

So the wait for Scarlet Witch’s assumed reappearance in the MCU goes on, but fans have certainly not given up on the idea of Olsen being given her own movie, and clearly will not stop campaigning for that anytime soon. While it would be assumed that Olsen will be among those who step back into the franchise in Secret Wars, along with variants of several other deceased characters and non-MCU stars such as Hugh Jackman, it is hard to predict exactly what is going to happen in the culmination of this saga thanks to the curve-ball casting of Robert Downey Jr. and the pivot away from Jonathan Majors’ Kang storyline.
