The Youth Day event at V&A Waterfront’s Battery Park will be open to the general public and learners from across the province. The day will be filled with fun activities, motivational discussions, live performances, make-up artist sessions and much more.
The event will be hosted by UCT Online High School’s Principal, Yandiswa Xhakaza and Head of Student wellbeing, Daniella Randall.
“Youth Day has always been synonymous with the aspirations of young people and the question around whether or not there is an enabling environment to allow for those aspirations and dreams to come true,” said Yandisa Xhakaza.
WHAT TO EXPECT
There will be performances from award-winning rapper YoungstaCPT, legendary DJ Kyeezi, young rapper Priddy Prince, Dee Koala and hype-maker Uncle Vinny.
There will be a motivational panel discussion on the importance of education to kick off the day. Panellists will include KFM’s Drive Show hot Carl Wastie, YoungstaCPT, Yandisa Xhakaza and Daniella Randell.
Event-goers can look forward to hearing about the panel’s personal journey to success and getting advice on how to navigate a new way of schooling.
A ONE-OF-A-KIND PARTNERSHIP
Local streetwear brand Grade Africa will be partnering with UCT Online High School for a one-of-a-kind range of merchandise.
“I think as we grow, we need to pass forward education to the next generation – education and learning come in so many different ways so let’s find new ways to get education to the kids. Let’s make it attainable and fun to be a learner – that’s why this partnership makes sense,” said Grade Africa founder, Zaid Osman.
The Youth Day event is set to kick off on Thursday 16 June from 12:00 until 16:00.
