There has been much written about WAG style this summer, from Tolami Benson single-handedly resuscitating football-spectator chic one Off-White tee at a time, to Morgan Riddle’s lip-glossed take on Wimbledon whites courtesy of Chanel. But no one has really mastered the kind of hot pants and high-heels glamour truly associated with the women who birthed flashy wives-and-girlfriends fashion in the Noughties. Until now.

Step up to the stadium Adele, who is currently prepping for her Munich residency, but popped to Dortmund to watch England knock out the Netherlands in the semi-final. The Spurs fan is synonymous with bombshell dressing and “couldn’t give a flying f**k” about what anyone thinks of her image – exactly the kind of WAG sass that convinced Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole to wear New Look vest-top versions of England shirts to the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Except, let’s be real, Adele wouldn’t be caught dead in New Look.

The singer’s honey blowout is inspired by Catherine Deneuve, she lives in Alaïa and Schiaparelli suiting, and she owns more custom black Givenchy dresses than Audrey Hepburn (ditto: Louis Vuitton, Armani and Oscar de la Renta). Her Hermès bag collection is surely reaching VB levels of luxury, but Adele is not the turquoise croc Birkin type. Instead, she perches a tan Kelly Pochette on her knee when supporting her sports agent boyfriend, Rich Paul, on the NBA sidelines.

Adele’s Euros look – featuring a classic white tee tucked under a tailored-to-perfection black coat and ginormous gold YSSO earrings – was entirely in line with her glossy LA persona, but there were flecks of the Tottenham girl still present and correct. See: the French-tipped talons, the abundance of lip liner and that winged eye make-up that all play a part in making Adele something of a national treasure. And if they didn’t do the trick, the videos of her shouting, “Shut up!” to the Dutch fans certainly proved she is and always will be British WAG material.
