HARARE – Hillary Makaya is officially off the market, after businessman Andrew Manongore reportedly paid US$40 000 as bride price for the socialite.
Makaya’s marriage was the talk of social media this past weekend, after a picture from the ceremony leaked and made rounds on various platforms.
An excited Makaya celebrated her traditional marriage with video clips posted on social media. In one, she was heard shouting ‘vamama’, which some social commentators felt was an uncouth way to celebrate her recent union.
The picture showed a bunch of crisp US$100 notes on a plate and was captioned “40k usd cash on paspot (lobola).”
In a post on Instagram, Makaya’s sister Yollanda said the marriage was a milestone for their family. She signed off the message with an insult of her own.
“S/O to everybody who congratulated us, this was a huge breakthrough for our family. Chakanaka chakanaka. The rest of you can suck my d*ck…respectfully,” she wrote.
Manongore is rumoured to be already married, with Makaya rumoured to be the businessman’s second wife.
The colourful business has been accused of making claims that he is related to the President of Zimbabwe.
This allegation emerged after skirmishes at a local hotel between the businessman and the pair of Passion Java and Mike Chimombe, who allegedly led a group of unidentified people to attack Manongore.
“The mistake these people are making is to think that I started knowing ED when he became President. I grew up and worked in the Midlands where he looked after me.
“I have no reason to claim that he is my father because he is everything to me. He would pay my rentals when I moved to Chitungwiza and helped me start my business. He groomed me in business and taught me the values of hard work.
“This is someone who paid my rentals and bought my groceries. He is more than a father to me. He is my godfather. This is the work of my enemies and they, wanted US$80 000 from me which I refused to part with” he said.
