How Spider-Girl affects Spider-Man’s life remains to be seen, but could she be replacing Bailey Briggs already as Spidey’s next premiere sidekick?

Spider-Girl is Ready To Make Her Debut in Marvel’s Universe

Spider-Man's spider-sense visibly tingling with Spider-Boy swinging behind him.

Complicated backstory aside, Spider-Boy is still relatively new to the Marvel Universe as far as readers are concerned. Still, after Spider-Boy #9, the most recent issue, he might be dying for good already, at least as far as his Spider comrades are concerned. In that issue, he gets sucked into the Spider-Verse so deeply that his Spider-Family can’t trace where he’s gone (in reality, he’s fallen into Earth-67, where J. Jonah Jameson wants Bailey to take pictures of Spider-Boy). His disappearance compels Spider-Man to make another deal with Mephisto, and Spider-Boy #12’s summary hints at the ramifications.

Debuting in SPIDER-BOY #12, Slott and designer/artist Michael Cho created the new Spider-Hero that superstar artist Paco Medina will take through her first on-page adventure! SPIDER-GIRL’s mysterious backstory will supersede even Spider-Boy’s shocking origin! Just as the emergence of Spider-Boy turned the Spider-Verse inside out and fueled fan speculation for months, SPIDER-GIRL has a story to share that will keep readers guessing and make Spider-Man, Spider-Boy, and all the rest question EVERYTHING! The upcoming issue of SPIDER-BOY will also feature an exciting team-up with Daredevil.

As readers eagerly anticipate the next issue of Spider-Boy, one has to assume that Spider-Boy’s disappearance and Spider-Man’s deal with the devil may both be the direct cause of Spider-Girl’s sudden reappearance. It also appears as if Spider-Girl may be similar to that of Spider-Boy’s, if not, then the summary promises it to be even more shocking. The implication may be that she, too, could have been a seemingly pre-existing character who no one remembers because she was erased from existence.

Spider-Boy May Need a New Mentor

The summary also hints that Spider-Boy may need to start being someone else’s sidekick, and he might do that with a Daredevil team-up. Spider-Boy secret, forgotten history has seen him trained by some surprising Marvel heroes, including being trained by Daredevil. It could just be a case of him receiving new training from Daredevil, but it could also be a sign that for some reason, Spider-Man has found a new sidekick in Spider-Girl. If that’s the case, then Spider-Girl could be causing more harm to the Spider-Man Family than good.
