Designers and their A-list muses took over the Met Gala red carpet Monday night.
From Zendaya wearing not one, but two breathtaking designs to Cardi B’s showstopper of an ensemble, the annual event was a who’s who of some of the most influential figures in fashion, entertainment, sports, business and beyond. Each brought their own interpretation of this year’s Met Gala dress code, “The Garden of Time.”
As celebrities gathered at the gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, more than 1,000 pro-Palestinian protesters marched toward the event, the New York Post reported. They succeeded in briefly shutting down Park Avenue and marched up Fifth Avenue, but were blocked from reaching the gala by police, who made several arrests.

Who says you can walk the red carpet only one time?
Met Gala co-chair Zendaya surprised fashion fans as she reemerged in a design that was very different from the custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano she wore earlier in the evening.
The Challengers star returned in a 1996 Galliano for Givenchy gown, which she paired with a floral Philip Treacy for Alexander McQueen headpiece from 2007.

Rihanna was a no-show for the Met Gala. Here’s why.
Rihanna is well-known for delivering some of the Met Gala’s most iconic looks. This year she decided to stay home. According to People, Rihanna is sick with the flu.
On April 29, the Fenty Beauty mogul teased to Extra that her look was going to be “real simple.” Of course, history has shown that her outfits have been anything but.

“Anna Wintour is personally helping Sánchez with selecting her dress,” O’Dell wrote on her Substack, noting that Sánchez “was choosing between custom looks by Oscar de la Renta and two other designers.”

Protesters move toward Met Gala
Protesters are demonstrating near the Met Gala as NYPD is preparing for a possible escalation.
The protest, called “Day of Rage for Gaza: From the Encampments to the Streets,” began in the afternoon at Columbia University and NYU before demonstrators converged at nearby Hunter College, which is a 20-minute walk from the Met Gala.
The demonstration is part of larger protests happening at college campuses across the country in response to the Israel-Hamas war.
