“The Walking Deadd: Daryl Dixon Renewed for Season 3—Prepare for a Game-Changing Twist!”

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has been renewed for a third season, but with a slight difference.

The spin-off show is moving from France to Spain. It was announced at San Diego Comic-Con that filming will begin next month in Madrid, and further filming will take place across the Galicia, Aragon, Catalonia and Valencia regions (via TVLine).

It’s not known whether the third season will have a second subtitle, following on from season 2 being called The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol.

The show was originally meant to be called Daryl & Carol and focus on both characters, but things were retooled when Melissa McBride, who plays Carol, was unavailable. She turned up at the end of season 1, and is serving as a series regular for season 2.

Again, we don’t know whether Carol will continue to be joint-lead of season 3. Given that season 2 hasn’t even premiered yet, it might be a while until we find out.

Speaking about Carol’s return, showrunner David Zabel explained what the deal was with her character.

“She felt compelled to go out looking for Daryl, which we will learn more about as we get deeper into the story,” he said.

“The presumption was made that he was coming back home, and then he never came back home, so we can read into that.

“So now she’s worried about him, and the radio call [in episode five] gave her a little bit of a clue as to how to maybe track him down. There’s also another clue – this moment in the radio call where she talks about something or someone having come back.”

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol premieres this September on AMC in the US and Sky Max/NOW in the UK.
