Nickelodeon is celebrating the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants with very special episodes airing in the month of July. The next episode, “Blood is Thicker Than Grease,” will become part of the celebration when it premieres on Monday, July 15 at 5:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Ahead of the episode’s premiere on Nickelodeon, CBR can unveil a new sneak peek clip. The video reveals a scene of series villain Plankton reconnecting with his parents, who have become extremely wealthy after winning the lottery. While Plankton finds himself unimpressed with the amenities of his parents’ fancy new mobile home, the situation gets a bit more awkward when “the whole Plankton clan” comes out of every nook and cranny for a surprise family reunion. The clip can be watched below.

Nickelodeon Celebrates 25 Years of SpongeBob SquarePants
Nickelodeon describes the 25th-anniversary episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants as a series of “specially produced all-new episodes, with Easter eggs and nods to fan-favorite moments, [which] will debut in July on Nickelodeon around the world and continue to roll out through the year. Viewers will catch up with former jellyfishing champion Kevin C. Cucumber, journey through different eras of Bikini Bottom, travel 2000 years into the future with Plankton, and more.”

Nickelodeon will also be honoring SpongeBob SquarePants at San Diego Comic-Con this month. The beloved “Help Wanted” episode will be recreated as part of an immersive experience that includes SpongeBob’s Pineapple, The Krusty Krab, and the Barg’N-Mart. The celebration will extend to the streets of San Diego, when a 12-foot-tall “SpongeBob Fountain of Positivity” water station will be on display steps away from the convention center. Additionally, there will be two SDCC panels: “Avatar: Braving the Elements – Live! with Janet Varney & Dante Basco” and “Celebrating 25 Years of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants.”
SpongeBob SquarePants was created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank, California. The series is one of the most widely distributed titles in Paramount history, averaging more than 90 million viewers every quarter. Beyond the TV series, which debuted on July 17, 1999, the franchise has extended into other mediums, which include feature films, video games, and a Tony award-winning Broadway Musical. From the start, Tom Kenny has been voicing the titular character.
