“I feed my daughter’s vegan friend meat behind her parents’ back – I think i the hero here saving her from some injustice”

A parent has been slammed for feeding meat to their daughter’s friend whose family follow a strict vegan diet after arguing she looks “smaller and paler” in comparison with their own child

A parent has been slammed after admitting to feeding their daughter’s vegan friend meat behind her parent’s back – and claims it gives her a “healthy glow”.

The parent explained that her 12-year-old daughter and her friend, who they refer to as ‘M’, often have sleepovers at their home.

They say that M’s family maintains a strict vegan diet where “she isn’t even allowed to drink milk”, and says they have noticed “how much smaller and paler she is compared to my daughter”.

But they said that whenever M stays over, they always make sure to cook a “big meaty meal for them”, writing: “Last weekend I made some cheeseburgers and steak for them on the grill with a big glass of milk.

“M absolutely loves it and always politely asks for more (which I happily provide).

“For snacks I give them some of my venison jerky. For breakfast I typically make a big plate of scrambled eggs and bacon again with a big glass of milk.

“Despite her size M always wolfs down whatever I make. And I have to say every time she leaves it looks like she has a healthy glow to her.

“I know I probably shouldn’t be doing this but I think M is a bit malnourished.”

They add that the girl must lie to her parents about what she eats when she visits, and asked for advice on Reddit as to whether they were in the wrong.

The parent was blasted in the comments, as one person said: “You say ‘whenever she is over I always make a big meaty meal for them’. So, you’re going out of your way to make something you know M’s parents wouldn’t let her have? Based on ‘she looks smaller and paler’ than your daughter? Stop substituting your judgements about how this kid is raised for her parents’. She’s not your kid.”

A second wrote: “You are absolutely judging her family, and her family’s diet, and you are doing this out of some misguided form of activism. You think you’re the hero here saving her from some injustice.”

And another asked: “Would you feed a Jewish or Muslim kid pork because you felt they were missing out?”
