Elden Ring: All Transformations In Shadow Of The Erdtree

Elden Ring’sShadow of the Erdtree DLC introduces a new transformation mechanic that allows the Tarnished to assume a new form and boost certain stats. To enable transformation, you must find any of the three available transformation tools, one of which is obtained as part of an NPC quest.

Unlike wearing armor to change your appearance, transformation only occurs by using one of these tools without wearing any armor at all. Once transformed, the Tarnished will stay in their new state until they die. Here are all three transformations added to Elden Ring’s DLC and how to get them.

Lamenter’s Form

Transform Into A Menacing Lamenter With Lamenter’s Mask

Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree - Lamenter's Form

The Lamenter’s Mask is dropped by a dungeon boss in the Lamenter’s Gaol. This dungeon is located in the northwestern region of Charo’s Hidden Grave. Reaching this location requires navigating the Dragon’s Pit and defeating the Ancient Dragon Man, followed by discovering the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion to the south of Jagged Peak. From the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion, you must head west to discover Charo’s Hidden Grave.

Using the Lamenter’s Mask transforms the Tarnished into an omen. While in this form, using the mask again results in the Tarnished’s head to swell in size, damaging all enemies caught in its radius.

While in the Lamenter’s form, you gain the following buffs:

Buff/Debuff Type

Physical Damage Negation

Magic Damage Negation

Fire Damage Negation

Lightning Damage Negation

Ancient Dragon Form

Transform Into Ancient Dragon Form, Boosting Dragon Communion Incantations

Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree - Rock Heart Form

The other two transformation variants feature the Ancient Dragon forms, but with different buffs. You can acquire one of the Ancient Dragon forms by solving the Domain of Dragons painting puzzle. This painting can be found in the secret underground section of the Shadow Keep. Once you’ve found the painting, the next step involves scaling the Jagged Peak to discover a ghostly figure, who vanishes when you approach them, leaving behind the Rock Heart.

The Rock Heart, much like the Lamenter’s Mask, is a reusable tool that can be used to transform the Tarnished into a humanoid Ancient Dragon. Using the tool again while in the Ancient Dragon form boosts all Dragon Communion incantations by 20% for 60 seconds.

The Rock Heart form grants the following buffs to the Tarnished:

Physical Damage Negation

With the right build, the Finger of Metyr can chew through mobs and bosses alike in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Priestess Form

Transform Into Ancient Dragon Priestess Florissax, Boosting Dragon Cult Incantations

Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree - Priestess Form

The third transformation you can acquire in Shadow of the Erdtree is the alternate variant of the Ancient Dragon form. To obtain this transformation, you’ll need to pursue the Dragon Priestess Florisaxx’s questline and defeat Bayle the Dread atop the Jagged Peak.

You can find the Priestess Florissax near the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion, which can be reached after clearing the Dragon’s Pit and riding south from the Dragons Pit Terminus Site of Grace. The Priestess happens to be an ancient dragon, Florissax, loyal to her lord, Dragonlord Placidusax . Speak to the Priestess, and once you’ve exhausted all her dialogues, proceed to defeat Bayle the Dread.

Returning to the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion after defeating Bayle the Dread, you’ll find that the Priestess has left the area, leaving behind the Priestess Heart and Flowerstone Gavel hammer.

The Priestess Heart allows you to assume the form of Priestess Florisaxx. Using the heart again while already in the transformed state boosts all Dragon Cult incantations by 20% for 60 seconds.

Additionally, you also gain the following buffs while in the Priestess form:

Buff Type

Physical Damage Negation
+5.6

Magic Damage Negation

Fire Damage Negation

Lightning Damage Negation
