Eddie Abbew’s diet of dozens of eggs and liver cooked in duck fat wins millions of fans as he gives followers health

A bodybuilder turned unlikely internet sensation has won over an audience of millions by enthusiastically promoting his diet of ‘whole foods’ and slamming ‘sugary s**t’.

Eddie Abbew, who owns a gym in Hemel Hempstead and says he is in his 60s, himself eats a ‘s*** load’ of eggs and munches on liver three times a week.

In July 2023, the health fanatic had 366,000 followers on Instagram and as of February 2024, boasts 2.8 million.

The social media star – who in a recent video took his followers through a ‘chest day’ – is gaining hundreds of thousands more by the day as he shares the methods behind his lifestyle.

Fans are obsessed with his swear-word heavy videos and coined catchphrases, including his instructing people to ‘wake the f**k up’.

Eddie even has a host of celebrity admirers – including Stormzy, who begged him for forgiveness after eating a post-show McDonalds – and Gemma Collins, who he is helping get in shape for her wedding.

He has proven so popular that he has landed a new show with GRM Daily, telling followers to eat a raw animal diet.

Eddie said before he started his new ‘lifestyle’ four years ago, his knees were ‘f***ed’ and he had ‘no energy’, needing a nap in the afternoon.

‘And then I changed my diet. What I eat mainly are high fats, high protein and very little carbohydrates,’ he continued.

‘Sometimes in the week I have a cheat meal with carbohydrates. Otherwise, my diet is predominately fat.

‘People say “it’s keto, it’s carnivore”, it’s f***ing nothing, it’s all of them together. I eat very little carbs and very little sugar. I cut all the ultra-processed foods out of my diet.

‘I eat a s*** load of eggs. And god, I feel more energy than I did when I was in my 30s.’

Eddie, who also used to be a nurse, discovered weights at the age of 16 and won the British Championships in bodybuilding in 1997.

In one video , he filmed himself devouring 12 boiled eggs as quickly as he could, while in another he told his followers not to buy their mothers 'sugary s***' on Mother's Day

He usually has two meals a day and advises his followers to eat red meat and eggs every day. He also eats liver around three times a week, cooking it in duck fat.

In one video, he filmed himself devouring 12 boiled eggs as quickly as he could, while in another he told his followers not to buy their mothers ‘sugary s***’ on Mother’s Day.

The father of three also runs a gym in Hemel Hempstead with his wife Marisa.

Among his devotees is rapper Stormzy, who gave into temptation and ate a post-show McDonalds, but in a TikTok vlog begged: ‘Uncle Eddie please man allow me.’

Eddie however was unforgiving and replied in a clip, tutting: ‘Listen, it’s Uncle Eddie here.

‘You should not be eating that sugary s*** McDonalds after being on stage. Come on – eat eggs! At least you know about eggs.’

Eddie is even helping ex TOWIE star Gemma Collins with a new diet plan after she previously spoke out about not being able to shift any weight due to health struggles including metabolic syndrome, an underactive thyroid and PCOS.

But she revealed she’d been reduced to tears by Eddie’s advice as she lost nearly a stone in just one week after eating nuts eggs, feta, meat, fish and avocado.

Gemma revealed earlier this month that she had hired Eddie to help her ‘get in shape for the big day’ as she prepares to tie the knot to fiance Rami Hawash.

In a video shared on the reality star’s social media, Eddie told Gemma: ‘Stop stop, we’re not doing a diet. We’re doing a lifestyle change. We’re going to change the way you look at food.’

On Instagram, she later revealed: ‘I was in total shock, I have not exercised, just my usual dog walk, I’ve not been in a gym.

‘I have just done exactly what Eddie has told me. I am in shock.

‘I came to see Eddie last week, I’ve got back on the scales today and I have lost 13.8 pounds. Nearly a stone, just under a stone in one week.’

‘I’ve missed this, I was reduced to tears. I looked at you and I was like sorry is that right.’

‘I’m sharp as a knife. I’m ready to go.’

Others have been left in two minds by Eddie’s diet, which they have branded as ‘extreme’.

One TikToker, @blondgall, asked: ‘Has anyone else’s boyfriends fallen victim to Eddie Abbew?? He won’t even let me have nutella on my pancakes.’

Another, @abbiejmorgan, was also struggling to enjoy their pancakes, saying ‘all they could hear’ was Eddie’s voice, while @haaayleyjay said said he had ruined the enjoyment of snacking on Cadbury mini eggs.

One video, in which Eddie said iced buns and muffins were not a treat and encouraged people to opt for an egg instead, received varied reactions on social media.

One frustrated commenter said: ‘I understand this guy obviously is speaking the truth and is doing good for people, but holy s*** you’re sucking any sort of enjoyment out of life.’

A second said: ‘You can still eat good and still have a treat every now and then relax my guy.’

Unsurprisingly, Eddie has slammed the recent findings about ultra-processed foods, which links them to 32 illnesses, including cancer and heart disease.

Posting a new video on Thursday morning, Eddie said: ‘The problem is the s*** we’ve got in our supermarkets is killing us.’

In the biggest analysis of evidence to date involving 10million people, researchers found those eating the most had between a 40 and 66 per cent increased risk of dying from heart disease.

They were also significantly more likely to be diagnosed with obesity, lung conditions and sleep problems.
