Dubai Princess Sheikha Mahra Divorce With Husband Sheikh Mana Al Maktoum, Emotional Post Viral

A Dubai princess has apparently announced her divorce from her husband via Instagram.

The announcement by Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of Dubai’s ruler and United Arab Emirates prime minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, would be considered an unprecedented move for UAE royalty.

“As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce,” the princess, 30, wrote in an Instagram post.

“I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you,” Sheikha Mahra added. “Take care. Your ex-wife.”

The princess has a strong social media presence, with 691 000 Instagram followers.

Sheikha Mahra married fellow royal Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum in 2023, according to Grazia. The couple share a daughter together.

They currently do not have images of one another on their Instagram accounts, according to CNN.

In her social media post, Sheikha Mahra seemingly invoked the practice of a triple divorce or talaq thalatha.

According to Brandeis University, a triple divorce/repudiation occurs when a husband declares divorce three times, immediately making his divorce absolute.

In Sunni Islam, which is the largest branch of Islam, triple repudiation is considered reprehensible but still effective and binding. The practice is used in some Muslim countries but banned in others and isn’t usually invoked by women.
