After 1200 hours of playing, a Elden Ring player shared their discovery that could help save fellow Tarnished plenty of time and crafting resources

A dedicated Elden Ring player shared their discovery that could help save fellow Tarnished plenty of time and crafting resources. When it comes to using consumables in a FromSoftware RPG, it always feels like a risky decision given the scarcity of some of the more powerful items but Elden Ring fortunately has a relatively robust crafting system to alleviate some of this frustration. This feature has served players who prefer to blanket an enemy with debuffs well but as it turns out, the mechanic for crafting pots is much more generous than many initially believed.

Posting on Reddit, user ReasonableTreeStump revealed that players who are in desperate need of throwable pots but already have too many of one kind can simply stash the collected pots in storage, thus granting a small bundle of empty pots that can be used for crafting.

The example provided explains how when someone with max fire pots needs to make oil pots instead, the former can be placed in storage to free up empty pots. Many players were shocked to discover this and considering the fact that ReasonableTreeStump has over a thousand hours in Elden Ring, it’s seemingly a less-than-obvious strategy.

A Major Elden Ring Advantage

Never Run Out Of Pots Again

While the ability to regain empty pots is a massive boon in and of itself, the mechanic also applies to other items. ReasonableTreeStump notes that the same move also works with perfumes, so players needing a specific type can simply store the unneeded variant and gain back empty bottles to craft more. Much like other consumables, the Tarnished will also have their pots replenished from their storage whenever they rest at a Site of Grace, meaning those rations should be able to last even longer than before.

Pot grenades may not be the most essential Elden Ring item but they are certainly useful to have on hand when it comes to staring down a boss that needs a solid debuff. Some of the more obviously powerful pots include the Lightning Pot and Poison Pot but special mention should made for the Holy Water Pot which is far more useful than many players believe. It’s a pity FromSoftware nerfed Elden Ring‘s perfumes as hard as they did because, with some preparation, those bottles could rend even the most powerful foe in a single hit.

Given the sheer scale of Elden Ring, it stands to reason that players could miss even the most straightforward mechanic. Now that Shadow of the Erdtree has been in the public’s hands for roughly a month, even more discoveries will like start trickling out of the woodwork. There’s always something new to discover in The Lands Between.
