The cover of Adele’s single When We Were Young

Who would guess that the carefree child smiling for the camera would turn into an Award-winning, Arena-filling superstar? With her front teeth missing, and her hair dishevelled, Adele doesn’t look as polished as usual on the cover for her latest single.

The Hello singer today releases When We Were Young, the second single from her celebrated album 25. And fittingly, she’s chosen to promote it with a picture of herself as a little girl. The photo shows the young Adele Adkins looking remarkably, unarguably, cute: she’s ruddy-cheeked and gap-toothed, but she has the same generous grin that she’s famous for today.

 

Adele co-wrote the single, one of her signature soul ballads, with Canadian musician Tobias Jesso Jr. It was produced by American record producer, audio engineer and songwriter Ariel Rechtshaid.

25 was released in November 2015 and broke first-week sales record in the UK and the US, with lead single Hello  reaching number one in almost every country it charted in.

The 27-year-old singer will perform at the Grammy Awards on February 15, before she embarks on a UK, Europe and US tour that has already completely sold out. The tour starts on February 29 in Belfast.
