An Elden Ring player has shown that the bosses in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC might have broken hitboxes, which makes them even more difficult to beat. The difficulty of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has been a talking point since the expansion’s release, and despite the developer’s attempt to tweak it a bit, it seems like players are still facing issues.

One of the most hated bosses of the Elden Ring DLC has been Commander Gaius. While mounted bosses are often a pain to deal with, Commander Gaius’ unconventional hitboxes make things even worse, and the fight also suffers from classic Soulsborne camera issues. However, it seems like Commander Gaius isn’t the only boss that might have broken hitboxes in the game.

In a new post on the Elden Ring subreddit, user nmunro14 confirms a fact that many other players had suspicions about. The user shows that their health bar gets depleted even before the boss’ attack hits them. What’s surprising is the fact that this was not the only case for the Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss fight in Elden Ring, but also Rellana, Twin Moon Knight. For Divine Beast Dancing Lion, the players show that the user takes damage when the boss’ head is far away from the character. Likewise, Rellana’s Carian Sovereignty attack also seems to be bugged, as something similar is witnessed there as well.

Other players in the comments section echoed similar sentiments. In fact, the original poster goes on to explain that this has made bosses less fun, as it makes the game more about dodging earlier than expected. While it’s all about getting the timing right, it does make things much less practical as players cannot really rely on visual cues. The player highlights that Rellana’s Carian Sovereignty in the Elden Ring DLC can only be dodged if one dodges extremely early, something which is not the case for base game bosses.

Elden Ring Players Are Comparing DLC With Dark Souls 2

Some players even went to the extent of calling the Elden Ring DLC another version of Dark Souls 2, as the latter is infamous for its buggy physics and hitboxes. Further supporting the stance that this takes away the fun from the game, another fan adds that the same holds true for delayed ,as well. There are a number of bosses in Elden Ring which have notoriously delayed attacks, forcing the players to accidentally dodge early. Many think that it takes away the intuition factor from the game and makes it all about memorization.
