The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders love that fans are replicating their iconic “Thunderstruck” dance¸— but want to make sure it’s being done right.

On July 9, Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader Jada Mclean “set the record straight” on the correct choreography for the dance in a TikTok on the organization’s official account. The correction comes after the cheerleaders’ routine to the 1990 AC/DC song became a viral TikTok dance challenge.

Mclean said she heard “rumors going around TikTok” about the correct steps in the dance and confirmed that “in the ‘Thunder’ choreography, it’s not slap slap, it’s slap hair.”

TikTok users took the opportunity to learn the dance after it was prominently featured in the Netflix documentary America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. While the TikTok with Mclean clarified one of the moves, some commenters in the video requested an official tutorial for the “Thunderstruck” dance.

In the documentary, head choreographer Judy Trammell shows the cheerleaders the steps for the “Thunderstruck” dance and rookie candidate Reece Allman calls the routine “the most iconic dance I can think of.”

Madeline Salter — then a third year veteran candidate on the team — explains that she “knew I wanted to be a DCC when I saw ‘Thunderstruck’ for the first time.”

“It’s powerful,” she continues. “You are getting hyped and riled up before the game even started.”
