Harley Quinn showrunner Dean Lorey has revealed what fans can expect from the highly-anticipated fifth season of the Kaley Cuoco-led animated series. This comes after the show had wrapped its 10-episode fourth season nearly a year ago.
According to TVLine, Lorey confirmed that Harley Quinn Season 5 will bring “the old gang back together,” after Harley and Ivy decided to follow different career paths during the fourth season. The last installment featured the titular anti-hero joining the Bat Family, while Ivy becomes the CEO of the Legion of Doom. “I wanted to get the old gang back together and get a little back to basics,” Lorey said. “So it’s a different season, it’s a bit more focused, and it has a lot of new stuff but with the same group.” In a previous interview, the showrunner also teased that Warner Bros. Animation and Max are currently planning to release the next season before the year ends.

Harley Quinn is created and executive produced by Lorey, Justin Halpern, and Patrick Schumacker, based on the character created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. Executive producer and lead star Kaley Cuoco will also be coming back for Season 5 to reprise her iconic voice role as Harley Quinn. Joining The Big Bang Theory vet are returning cast members Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, Ron Funches as King Shark, JB Smoove as Frank the Plant, Alan Tudyk as Clayface/The Joker, Christopher Meloni as Commissioner Gordon, Diedrich Bader as Batman/Bruce Wayne, James Adomian as Bane, and more.
Prior to the show’s return, Max had released its first-ever spinoff titled, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, which centers around Ivy’s ex-boyfriend Kite Man. The new adult-animated DC series will be led by Matt Oberg as Kite Man and Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu as Kite Man’s new girlfriend, Golden Glider, as they take their relationship to the next level by opening a villains bar in the shadow of Lex Luthor’s Legion of Doom. Besides Oberg and Hsu, the spinoff also features the voices of Natasia Demetriou as Malice, Janelle James as Queen of Fables, Jonathan Banks as Noonan, and Keith David as Darkseid.

Kite Man Spinoff Finale Sets Up Harley Quinn Season 5
According to Lorey, even though Kite Man: Hell Yeah! will tell a standalone story, he admitted that the spinoff’s Season 1 finale episode will give fans a hint about Harley Quinn’s Season 5 storyline. “They’re definitely in the same universe. I would say that they largely exist on their own, although we do share certain things. Without giving anything away, the end of Kite Man Season 1 has a pretty good hint at what Season 5 of Harley is going to involve,” he said. “But we share the characters across all of them. And Bane is a regular in this season. He’s a major character.”
While waiting for Harley Quinn Season 5, fans can now watch the first two episodes of the Kite Man spinoff on Max.
