Heartbreaking moment spotted by Amy Winehouse fans in her final ever performance days before her d*ath

Thirteen years ago today, the music powerhouse and incredible talent Amy Winehouse died.

The Londoner was responsible for plenty of absolute British bangers, from ‘Back to Black’ to ‘Rehab’.

With music that put plenty of her emotions out for the world to hear, Winehouse’s career, while successful, was relatively short-lived as she died at the age of just 27 on 23 July, 2011 from alcohol poisoning.

And fans of the singer-songwriter spotted a heartbreaking moment in her final ever performance less than a month before her tragic death.

Previously documented in Sam Taylor-Johnson’s Back to Black film, Winehouse’ life was studded with extraordinary highs and a series of lows – which were well followed by tabloids at the time.

The star was often hounded by paparazzi, capturing her drunken incidents on the streets with her ex-partner Blake Fielder-Civil.

Tragically, much of her later performances were marred by Winehouse’s struggles with addiction and mental illness.

In 2011, the mega talent was set for a 12-leg European tour which opened in Belgrade, Serbia. But when she took to the stage that night on 18 June, it ended up being her final ever official performance.

This show became infamous as it was slammed a ‘disaster’ with reports at the time claiming she stumbled across the stage, forgot the words of her songs and even forgot the names of her bandmates.

The footage of the concert is pretty uncomfortable to watch and tragically shows her struggling over how difficult she is finding it, while some of the audience boo her.

And in a heartbreaking moment that has recently been spotted by fans, Winehouse seemed to forget the words again to ‘Some Unholy War’.

At this point, backing vocalist Zalon Thompson came over and whispered the words into her ear. This then led to her breaking down as the crowd’s pressure began to grow.

Winehouse held back tears as she hugged herself and the show continued.

It wasn’t long until the Brit’s next scheduled performances were cancelled, and the tour abandoned.

She also reportedly turned down the payment for her the concert that night in Belgrade.

Winehouse wasn’t seen much after that tragic night, but she did sing at her goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield’s, concert at Camden’s Roundhouse to sing a version of ‘Mama Said’.

But just days after that, the icon was found dead in her flat.

Despite the lows that punctuated her career, Winehouse is indisputably one of the great British talents of our generation.
