A day at the zoo is generally filled with fun, learning and memorable experiences.
However, for one bloke, a scheduled trip provoked feelings of fear instead of joy. His girlfriend organised the visit, but realising his fear of animals, he felt compelled to make a call to the zoo ahead of their journey to ensure strict regulations were in place.
The hilarious tale soon found its way to TikTok after his girlfriend shared his tense phone-call with the staff. Over the clip, she wrote: “Booked me and bf a trip to go to the zoo, but he’s scared of animals, so he’s rung to make sure they’re locked away. Pls, I’m crying.”
The amusing footage, posted by @bamypb, captures him anxiously querying the staff about the safety arrangements. While confessing it’s “a bit stupid”, he admits his fear of animals and asks whether the creatures would be securely contained during their visit.
As their conversation is on loud speaker, the employee can be heard mentioning that tortoises will be out during certain times. His mounting fears then resurface as he responds: “I don’t want to feel the tortoises.”
He continues asking if it’s possible to keep them locked up during his visit. Despite her explaining that he doesn’t have to get close, he continued to demand they be locked up. “I don’t mind a giraffe or a zebra,” he added. Ensuring no stone was left unturned, he anxiously questioned: “There ain’t no gorillas out there either, is there?”
In a hilarious twist, he finally inquired if there was an option to “opt out” of the tortoise interaction. The video, which hilariously featured his partner’s chuckles in the background, ends with him stating that he would not go if the tortoises were present.
The amusing incident has taken the internet by storm, with the video garnering more than three million views. One commenter joked: “Is he afraid the tortoise will run after him?” Another amused user commented: “The fact that he’s fine with a giraffe or zebra, but not a tortoise.” A third wrote: “‘Tortoises out’ – what does that mean? Hahaha this is hilarious.”
