As The Garfield Movie continues its impressive run in theaters, the film is now available to watch at home. As of July 9, The Garfield Movie is now available to buy or rent at home and in theaters.
With the animated film arriving on VOD, CBR has an exclusive dip to debut from its bonus features. The clip highlights some of the Easter eggs in the film that longtime fans of the famous orange feline may appreciate. It includes pointing out multiple examples of referencing Binky the Clown, a classic Garfield character who was once prominent in the original comic strip and animated series. Another of several Easter eggs highlighted honors Lorenzo Music, the original voice of Garfield, by way of naming a music store after the late actor. Check out the clip below.
Garfield, the sarcastic, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving cat, can actually be pretty cute sometimes.
Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Super Mario Bros. Movie) leads the voice cast by playing Garfield. Samuel L. Jackson and Nicholas Hoult respectively co-star as Garfield’s biological father and Jon Arbuckle, the human who adopts the lazy, hungry cat after a chance encounter as a kitten. Other cast members include Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, and Snoop Dogg.
“Well, that’s the case typically, trying to find a voice exploring different intonations and values and trying to find a way to zero in on a voice that you’re aiming for,” Pratt previously told CBR about how he didn’t have to change his voice much to play Garfield. “With this, it was very simple, because Mark Dindal, our director, said, ‘I want Garfield to sound exactly like you. I’ve been working on this movie for a couple years, and I just imagined your voice coming out of this cat. That’s what I want.’ I was like, ‘Okay, that’s relatively a really easy pull for me.'”

In The Garfield Movie, per the official synopsis, “Garfield (Pratt), the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic (Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.”
