How to Enter the Finger Ruins of Miyr (First Time) in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has no shortage of hidden areas to find and discover. FromSoftware is not afraid of locking entire regions of the map behind thorough exploration.

The Finger Ruins of Miyr are found in a hidden chamber directly underneath Count Ymir’s throne in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. Players will only be able to access the area by interacting with Ymir’s throne when he’s not sitting on it. There are only two instances when this happens.

The Soft Cap system in Elden Ring is not communicated to players very well, but this guide explains everything you need to know about this mechanic.

How to Enter the Finger Ruins of Miyr (First Time)

Elden Ring - Shadow Of The Erdtree - Path To Cathedral Of Manus Metyr and Count Ymir

Talking to Count Ymir in the Cathedral for the very first time will trigger the start of his questline, in which he’ll ask players to go and ring a bell with the Hole-Laden Necklace . He’ll also hand over a Ruins Map indicating where to go. After players follow the map, ring the bell, and return to the Cathedral, they’ll find that Ymir is no longer in his seat but just outside the Cathedral talking to a gravestone. Players can use this opportunity to interact with the throne to reveal the ladder leading to the Finger Ruins of Miyr below.

Inside, there will be a relatively linear path with another bell at the far end that looks like it can be rung with the Hole-Laden Necklace. This bell cannot be rung during the first visit. It is the third bell in a series of three and can only be interacted with after players ring the Ruins Map (2nd) bell.

For now, travel a short distance into the Ruins to trigger an invasion by Swordhand of Night Anna. Defeat her to claim the Claws of Night weapon. There is a corpse to the left with the Finger-Weaver’s Cookbook [2] on it.

How to Reenter Finger Ruins of Miyr (Second Time)

If players die to Anna, fall off the edge, or simply exit and rest at any Site of Grace, Count Ymir will return to his throne and the path will be blocked off. No amount of dialogue will convince him to relocate. This is by design. Players can only reenter the Finger Ruins of Miyr after ringing the second bell in the Finger Ruins of Dheo.

After solving the Ruins Map (2nd), return to Ymir and talk to him to receive the Ruins Map (3rd). If viewed in the inventory, it is clear that the map points toward the Finger Ruins of Miyr.

Now, rest at the nearby Site of Grace and wait until night. Ymir will disappear from his throne once more, and players will be able to access Miyr again.

Interacting with the bell at the end of the Ruins will teleport players to the Metyr, Mother of Fingers’ boss arena. After defeating her, teleport back to the Cathedral Site of Grace, where you’ll be invaded by Swordhand of Night Jolan. Defeat her to trigger the final fight against Count Ymir near the throne.

After Ymir is defeated, the Finger Ruins of Miyr will become permanently accessible.
