Jay-Z is busy promoting his album 4:44 and during a publicity interview he decided to make headlines by talking about late British star Amy Winehouse.

The Back To Black singer died in 2011 after a battle with drink and drugs, and the rapper, 47, said he’d immediately been concerned about her when they met for the first time at a New York pub, UsWeekly.com reported.

‘I looked at her, and I was like, ‘Stay with us,” he explained on Tidal’s Rap Radar podcast. ‘The first time we hung out, I told her, ‘Stay with us.”

Jay-Z went on: ‘She was telling us, she was writing the songs to our face..’

‘They’re trying to make me go to rehab, I’m not going,’ like, what? You have to go!”

Amy was found dead of alcohol intoxication at her London home on July 23, 2011. She was 27.

Beyonce’s husband said he thinks that social stigma surrounding social illness is still preventing those who are suffering from seeking the help they need.

‘We’re not dealing with that because it’s not the cool thing to do,’ Jay-Z claimed.

‘These things unfortunately have to happen on a large stage so everyone can see.’

Jay-Z worked with Amy on a remix of her hit single Rehab. He also worked with Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington who committed suicide in July.

In his Tidal podcast released last Friday, he had explained the reasons behind the names of his new twins with Beyonce.

‘Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter. And then Sir was, like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir,’ he revealed.

Jay-Z also said that while his family will be heading out on tour with him in October, he decided to save touring until later in the year.

The rapper said he wanted to spend quality time with his brood without the pressures of being on the road.

Family affair: He has also said his wife Beyonce, their daughter Blue Ivy, five, and new twins Sir and Rumi, will be heading out on tour with him in October
